Privacy policy

Summary

We built ParentalControl.uk to answer one question in plain English: are your broadband filters likely to be working? We collect as little data as possible, we do not sell personal information, and we do not load third-party advertising trackers.

What we process

When you open the site, our server reads your public IP address once so we can ask a geo-IP service which broadband provider you appear to be using. That response is not written to a database in the default configuration. Your browser then runs the safety checks locally using test endpoints on the public internet.

If your host supports APCu, we may cache the ISP lookup result against a hashed IP for up to 24 hours to reduce repeated calls to external APIs. That cache stays on the server and is not used for profiling or marketing.

Cookies

We do not use non-essential cookies. If we add optional analytics in future, we will ask permission first and update this page.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where applicable. Contact hello@parentalcontrol.uk and we will respond within one calendar month.

Changes

We will publish updates here when the processing changes. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised notice.
