Parental controls on AAISP (Andrews & Arnold)

No network-level filter. Free DNS layer recommended

AAISP is a UK ISP that, on principle, does not run network-level filters. Their stance is documented and deliberate. They will pre-configure their supplied router with alternative DNS (OpenDNS) on request, otherwise add a DNS layer yourself.

How to switch it on

  1. 01

If you want AAISP to ship the router pre-configured with OpenDNS FamilyShield, contact support before your broadband activates and ask.

  2. 02

Otherwise, sign into your router admin at 192.168.1.1 (or whatever address your hub uses).

  3. 03

Find DNS settings and set them to Cloudflare for Families: primary 1.1.1.3, secondary 1.0.0.3. This blocks adult content and malware.

  4. 04

Save and restart the router. Two to five minutes for devices to pick up the new DNS.

  5. 05

Add Apple Screen Time or Google Family Link on each child's device for per-child profiles and bedtime schedules.

What it covers and what it does not

Covers

Once Cloudflare for Families is set, every device on the network gets adult content and malware blocking.

Does not cover

AAISP does not filter anything at network level by design. Per-child profiles require device-level apps.

Add a free DNS filter

AAISP (Andrews & Arnold) does not run a network-level parental control filter. The fastest fix is to add a free DNS filter at your router. It covers every device on your Wi-Fi in one step and takes about ten minutes.
