Parental controls on Wessex Internet

Asus Router app (full fibre); none on wireless

Wessex Internet covers rural Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire and Somerset. Full-fibre customers get Asus AiProtection parental controls. Fixed-wireless customers have no provider filter per Wessex's own support page.

How to switch it on

  1. 01

    Full fibre: download the Asus Router app (iOS App Store or Google Play).

  2. 02

    Sign in to the router using the credentials supplied at install.

  3. 03

    Tap Family, then AiProtection or Parental Controls. Add a profile for each child.

  4. 04

    Choose an age preset. Set Time Scheduling for bedtime and homework time.

  5. 05

    Wireless customers: Wessex does not offer parental controls. Set Cloudflare for Families (1.1.1.3 / 1.0.0.3) on the router DNS. See our /dns/ guide.

What it covers and what it does not

Covers

Per-child profiles, content filters, and time scheduling for full fibre customers.

Does not cover

Wireless-plan customers. Mobile data. Encrypted apps and VPNs.

Also do this

Even with Asus Router app (full fibre); none on wireless turned on, adding a free DNS layer adds a second line of cover and closes some of the gaps. It takes about ten minutes and works on every device on your home Wi-Fi.
