Parental controls on Ogi
eero Secure or Zyxel router parental controls
Ogi (formerly Spectrum Internet) is the main Welsh altnet, covering Cardiff, Pembrokeshire, Monmouthshire, Vale of Glamorgan, Bridgend, RCT, Caerphilly and surrounding areas. Ogi customers on the eero hub get eero Secure free. Zyxel customers use the Zyxel admin page.
How to switch it on
-
01
If you have an eero: download the eero app, sign in with your Ogi account, then Discover, eero Secure, Profiles.
-
02
Add a profile for each child and assign their devices.
-
03
Set Content Filters (Child strictest, Adult lightest), then add Schedules for bedtime.
-
04
If you have the Zyxel router: sign into the admin URL printed on the router label, then Parental Controls, add the device's MAC address, set a schedule.
-
05
Save. Either route applies immediately.

What it covers and what it does not
Covers
Every device assigned to a profile (eero) or scheduled by MAC (Zyxel). Activity log on eero.
Does not cover
Mobile data, encrypted apps, VPNs, devices not assigned to a profile.
Also do this
Even with eero Secure or Zyxel router parental controls turned on, adding a free DNS layer adds a second line of cover and closes some of the gaps. It takes about ten minutes and works on every device on your home Wi-Fi.
