Parental controls on Utility Warehouse
eero Secure (with eero add-on)
Utility Warehouse resells broadband over TalkTalk wholesale and bundles Amazon eero with eero Secure (worth £25 a year) on its broadband plans. Parental controls run through the eero app.
How to switch it on
-
01
Download the eero app (iOS App Store or Google Play) and sign in with the email used at UW sign-up.
-
02
Tap Discover, then eero Secure, then Profiles.
-
03
Create a profile for each child and add every device they use.
-
04
Tap the profile, then Content Filters. Pick an age preset (Child is strictest) or use Custom.
-
05
Tap Schedules to add bedtime and homework-time pauses.
-
06
Save. The filter applies immediately to every device in the profile.

How to remove this later
Go back to your provider parental controls page, switch the filter to Off or a lighter level, then save and wait for the change window shown by your provider. If your child is older, step down one layer at a time rather than removing everything in one go.
What it covers and what it does not
Covers
Devices assigned to a profile, on home Wi-Fi. Activity log of blocked attempts per child.
Does not cover
Devices not assigned to a profile, mobile data, encrypted apps and VPNs.
Also do this
Even with eero Secure (with eero add-on) turned on, adding a free DNS layer adds a second line of cover and closes some of the gaps. It takes about ten minutes and works on every device on your home Wi-Fi.

Common questions
How long does setup usually take?
Most parents can complete this in Immediate.
Can a child bypass this?
Network controls reduce exposure but cannot cover everything, especially mobile data and VPN bypass. Use this layer with device controls and regular check-ins.
How do I relax controls as my child gets older?
Lower one control at a time (for example strict to moderate) and review outcomes before removing all controls.
